New-build cabinet placement — where builders get it wrong

Fletcher and Universal typically put the “structured wiring cabinet” in the garage, on an external wall, no ventilation. In summer it hits 45°C. In winter it condensates. Router failures we see in the first 18 months on Long Bay builds trace back to this. Retrofit: relocate to interior wardrobe or laundry, add small vent fan, re-terminate cabling. Usually 600–950 NZD.
