Quick answer

A professional Starlink installation in Auckland covers: mounting the dish where it has a clear view of the sky (roof, wall or pole), routing the cable neatly into the house, setting up the router, and — the part most installers skip — extending the WiFi so it reaches every room and outbuilding. CFU installs Auckland-wide, rural blocks to farms, with a free site walk first, a fixed quote in 24 hours, and a 3-year workmanship warranty.

Three things every Auckland Starlink install needs to get right

The dish is the easy part. These three decisions are what separate "it works" from "it works everywhere, in every storm, for years".

Dish placement that survives winter

Trees grow, sun angles change, storms come through. We pick a mount position — roof, wall or ground pole — with a genuinely clear sky view year-round, fixed properly so your roof warranty stays intact.

A cable route you'll never notice

No cable flapping down the cladding or trailing through a window. We route it through the roof cavity or wall, sealed at every penetration, terminated tidily where the router lives.

WiFi that reaches past the router

Starlink drops fast internet at one point in the house. On a rural property that's not enough — the office, the sleepout and the shed all need it too. That's the part we're actually known for.

What's in a CFU Starlink install

Scoped at the site walk — you only pay for the parts your property needs.

Roof, wall or ground-pole dish mount — sealed and warranted
Concealed cable route into the house
Router setup + app walkthrough on the day
Whole-home WiFi — mesh APs on wired backhaul
Multi-building links — buried Cat6 or point-to-point wireless
CCTV, POS and smart-gear integration on the new connection
Failover setup for business — Starlink as backup or primary
Certified handover — tested, documented, 3-yr workmanship warranty

Who we install Starlink for

Three kinds of Auckland property, three different installs. Same crew, same standards.

Rural homes & lifestyle blocks

Ten years of dial-up-speed ADSL and "no fibre in your street"? Dish mounted right, cable hidden, WiFi to every room — streaming, Zoom and the kids' devices all working the day we leave.

Rodney · Waitakere · Franklin · Hunua · Kumeu · Riverhead · Coatesville

Businesses & temporary sites

Primary internet where fibre isn't run, or storm-proof failover where it is. Wineries, kennels, holiday stays, construction and film sites — with POS, EFTPOS, Teams and CCTV all carried on it.

Warkworth · Silverdale · Kumeu · Pukekohe · industrial fringe

Farms & multi-building properties

One dish, every building. House, farm office, workshop, milking shed, staff cottage — linked with buried cable or point-to-point wireless, so farm software, cameras and gate access work everywhere.

Franklin · Rodney · Kaipara edge · Hauraki fringe

How the install actually runs — 4 steps

1

Free site walk

We walk the property with you — sky view, mount options, cable route, which buildings need WiFi. 30–60 minutes, no obligation.

2

Fixed quote in 24h

Written fixed price in your inbox the next day. Line-item detail. Fixed — not an estimate that grows on install day.

3

Install day

Dish mounted and sealed, cable routed and hidden, router and WiFi set up, every building connected. Most homes are one day.

4

Certified handover

Speed-tested in every room and building, documented, app on your phone, 3-year workmanship warranty in writing.

Real Auckland Starlink installs

Three recent jobs — one per property type. Names and photos to be confirmed.

Rural home

Lifestyle block · Coatesville

Four-bedroom home on 2ha, stuck on 8 Mbps ADSL — video calls impossible, kids' streaming rationed. Dish pole-mounted clear of the pines, cable buried to the house, mesh WiFi on wired backhaul to all three levels plus the sleepout.

Result: 200+ Mbps in every room by the end of install day.

Business

Matakana Valley Lodge · Matakana

Holiday accommodation losing bookings over unusable guest WiFi — VDSL dropping every storm. Starlink as primary with the VDSL kept as failover, guest WiFi isolated from the office network, coverage across all six cabins.

Result: guest WiFi complaints to zero; EFTPOS through every storm since.

Farm

Dairy farm · Glenbrook, Franklin

Working farm, five buildings, no mobile signal at the shed. One dish at the house, point-to-point wireless to the workshop and milking shed, buried Cat6 to the farm office, cameras and gate access on the same network.

Result: farm software, CCTV and staff WiFi live in every building.

The part most installers skip

Starlink gets the internet to your property.
We get it to every corner of it.

Plenty of installers will mount the dish, plug in the router and drive off. Then you discover the router covers half the house, the office in the shed gets nothing, and the sleepout is a dead zone. We're a networking crew first — the dish is step one, and WiFi in every room and building is the actual job.

Whole-home mesh

WiFi 6 access points placed for real coverage, wired back to the router — not a consumer repeater halving your speed.

Outbuilding links

Buried Cat6 in conduit or point-to-point wireless to the shed, sleepout, office or cottage — up to hundreds of metres.

Everything riding on it

Cameras, gate access, POS, farm software, smart home gear — set up and tested on the new connection before we leave.

What rural Auckland says

"Ten years of promises from the broadband companies and nothing. These guys pole-mounted the dish, buried the cable, and now the sleepout gets faster internet than my son's flat in town. Should've done it years ago."

Grant M. · Riverhead · 2026

"Our cellar door lost EFTPOS every time it stormed. They set Starlink up as the main connection with the old line as backup — we haven't dropped a single payment since, even through the July weather."

Sonia P. · Kumeu · 2026

"Five buildings, one dish. The cowshed cameras, the office and the staff cottage all run off it now. They actually understood multi-building networking — first techs we've had on the farm who did."

Bruce T. · Waiuku · 2025

Starlink installation FAQs

You can DIY it — Starlink designed the kit that way. But the DIY install usually means the dish on a fence post with the cable through a window. A professional install gets the dish where the signal is genuinely clear year-round, keeps your roof warranty intact, hides the cable properly, and sets up WiFi that covers the whole property. Most of our customers call us after trying the window-cable version for a month.
The core install: dish mounted on roof, wall or ground pole, cable routed neatly into the house, router set up and the app on your phone. From there it's scoped to your property — mesh WiFi through the house, links to outbuildings, business failover, CCTV and smart gear on the new connection. The site walk decides exactly what your property needs; you only pay for what's scoped.
You order the kit directly from Starlink — that keeps the hardware warranty and the subscription in your name. We handle everything from the box onwards: mounting, cabling, setup, WiFi. Not sure which plan to order? Book the site walk first and we'll tell you what fits your property before you spend anything. We install all Starlink tiers — Standard, Business, Priority and Roam.
Wherever it gets an unobstructed view of the sky — which on most Auckland properties means the roof ridge, a gable end, or a ground pole clear of trees. We check obstruction maps on the site walk and pick a spot that stays clear as trees grow and seasons change. A dish that's 95% clear still drops video calls — that last 5% is what the site walk is for.
Yes — that's our home turf. Depending on distance and terrain we either bury Cat6 in conduit (best for buildings within ~90m) or use a point-to-point wireless link (good for hundreds of metres, line-of-sight). Either way the outbuilding gets its own access point running at full speed — not a flaky repeater signal from the house.
Yes — rural businesses across Auckland run POS, EFTPOS, Teams and cloud software on it daily. Where it really earns its keep is as storm-proof failover: fibre and VDSL lines drop in bad weather, Starlink doesn't care. We set up automatic failover so if your main line drops, the site switches to Starlink before anyone notices.
A standard home install — dish, cable, router, whole-home WiFi — is usually done in half a day to a day. Multi-building properties and farms run one to two days depending on how many buildings we're linking and whether we're trenching. You'll have the timeframe in writing on your quote.
The dish itself is built for weather — it even melts snow off itself (not a big Auckland problem). What fails in storms is bad mounting: loose fixings, unsealed penetrations, cable whipping in the wind. Our mounts are through-fixed and sealed, the cable is secured its whole run, and if any of our workmanship fails within 3 years, we come back and fix it free.
Comfortably. Typical real-world Starlink speeds in the Auckland region run far beyond what rural ADSL or 4G broadband delivers — enough for multiple 4K streams, video calls and cloud-connected cameras at the same time. The usual bottleneck isn't the dish, it's WiFi that doesn't reach — which is exactly the part we fix.
The whole Auckland region — Rodney, the Waitakere Ranges, Franklin, Hunua, the North Shore rural edge, the eastern bays, plus Waiheke and Great Barrier on scheduled visits. If you're rural-fringe and not sure, call — if we can drive or ferry to it, we install on it.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our Auckland cabling services, pricing and process. Can't find what you're after? Call us on 0800 222 546.

How much does network cabling cost?

Pricing depends on the number of data points, cable type (Cat6 / Cat6a / fibre) and building complexity. We provide free site surveys and upfront fixed-price quotes — no hidden costs. Most extra Cat6 outlets start from $120 +GST. Call 0800 222 546 to book yours.

Do you charge for site surveys and quotes?

No — site surveys and quotes are free. Book online or call 0800 222 546 and one of our team will come to you, assess the job, and give you a clear fixed price before any work begins.

How long does a typical install take?

A standard residential or small-office install is usually completed in a single day — often same-day. Larger commercial or enterprise projects are planned with a clear timeline given before work begins, so you always know what to expect.

Are your technicians certified and licensed?

Yes. All installs are completed to TIA/EIA and AS/NZS 3080 standards, and any associated electrical work is carried out by licensed electricians. We are fully insured with $5M public liability cover.

What areas of Auckland do you service?

We service all of Auckland — Central, North Shore, West, East and South Auckland — plus the North including Orewa, Silverdale, Warkworth, Snells Beach and Mangawhai.

Do you provide a warranty on your work?

Yes. Every cabling install is tested, documented and backed by our 3-year workmanship warranty. If anything isn't right after your install, we'll come back and fix it.

Cat6 vs Cat6a — which cable should I choose?

For most homes and small offices, Cat6 is more than enough — it handles gigabit speeds easily and is more affordable. Cat6a suits businesses running heavy data, future-proofing for 10-gigabit networks, or longer cable runs. We'll recommend the right cable during your free site survey.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Auckland?

CCTV pricing depends on the number of cameras, indoor vs outdoor placement, recording method (NVR vs cloud) and cabling required. Most residential installs sit in the $1,500–$3,500 range, with commercial systems quoted on-site. Book a free survey on 0800 222 546.

Can you install fibre optic cabling for my business?

Yes — we install indoor and outdoor fibre including OS2 single-mode and OM3/OM4 multi-mode for backbone runs, server rooms and inter-building links across Auckland. All terminations are tested and certified to AS/NZS standards.

Do you provide after-hours or emergency callouts?

Yes. Real people answer Mon–Sun, and we offer emergency callouts for downed networks, broken cabling, camera failures and business-critical outages. Call 0800 222 546 anytime.

Can you add data points to an existing home or office?

Absolutely — adding data points to existing buildings is one of our most common jobs. We minimise wall damage, label every cable and tidy patch panels so future changes are easy. Most retrofits are completed in a single visit.
