Common questions about access control
How long does install take?
Single-door is usually 3-4 hours. Multi-door (4-8 doors) is one full day for the install plus a half-day to set up users and time-zones. We almost always finish hardware in one visit.
Can it work over our existing door hardware?
Most of the time, yes. Existing maglocks, electric strikes, and exit buttons are reusable in 80% of jobs. We test on the site visit and only replace what’s actually faulty.
Do staff need a card or can they use their phone?
Both — you choose. Mobile credentials (Hikvision Hik-Connect, Dahua DSS) work over Bluetooth + NFC. Cards are still cheaper to issue at scale (under $5/card vs $20-30 for a mobile credential subscription).
What happens if the power goes out?
Controllers run on a battery backup (8-12 hours typical). Maglocks fail-safe (unlock on power loss for fire egress); strikes fail-secure. We discuss the right fail-mode for your fire-evacuation plan on the site visit.
Can it integrate with our existing CCTV?
Yes — if your CCTV is Hikvision, Dahua, or Uniview, we link them so the access log timestamps match camera footage. One click in the app shows you who walked through and the live video clip of them doing it.
Can I run multi-site (e.g. 3 office locations) from one place?
