A modern Auckland home runs 40+ connected endpoints — cameras, doorbell, speakers, TVs, hubs, lights, sensors, thermostats, robot vacuum, plus every phone and laptop in the house. Cable through ceiling void, frame in cupboard

Older Auckland homes usually have a generous ceiling void and accessible subfloor — that's how we get Cat6 to every room without opening walls. The frame goes in a hallway cupboard, and we make good everything we touch.

Pre-wire during build vs retrofit existing — which do I need?
If your walls are open — new build or mid-renovation — pre-wire. It's cheaper per point, tidier, and you can be generous with cable while it costs almost nothing to add. If you're in an existing home, retrofit works well too: we use the ceiling void and subfloor to reach most rooms without opening walls. At the survey we'll tell you honestly which applies and where the limits are.
What is a smart wiring frame and do I need one?
It's the central point where all your smart-home cabling terminates — a patch panel and power in a hallway cupboard, garage or laundry. Every cable in the house lands there, labelled, so any future change is a patch cord instead of a fishing expedition. If you're wiring more than a handful of devices, yes — you want one. It's the difference between a system and a pile of cables.
Best smart home system for a NZ home?
Whichever one you'll actually use. Apple HomeKit is the smoothest if the household is on iPhones; Google Home is more forgiving with mixed devices; Matter is the safest bet for long-term compatibility across brands. The important part is that the wiring underneath is ecosystem-agnostic — we wire Cat6 to the right places, so you can change your mind about hubs and apps later without touching the cable.
Can you retrofit smart home wiring into an existing home?
Yes — it's most of what we do. Auckland homes typically give us either a ceiling void or a subfloor to work with, and often both, which is how we get cable to bedrooms, living areas, eaves and the garage without opening walls. Some spots need a small access cut; we tell you about those before we start and we make good afterwards. Nothing gets left exposed.
How long does a smart home wire install take?
A whole-home retrofit is typically 3–5 days depending on size and access. A new-build pre-wire is usually 1–2 days on site, sequenced with your builder between framing and gib. A single sleep-out or a small add-on zone is often one day. You'll have the timeframe in writing on your quote, not as a guess on the day.
Do you work with builders and electricians on new builds?
Constantly. We take a free coordination call with your builder or project manager, work off the plans, and slot into the programme so we're not holding up the gib or waiting on the sparky. We stay in our lane — data, comms and low-voltage — and hand the electrician exactly what they need for the switches and neutrals.
Do you warranty the wiring?
Yes — 3 years workmanship on everything we install, in writing. Every run is Fluke-tested on completion, and you get the cable map and label directory as part of handover. If something we installed fails within that window, we come back and fix it.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Auckland?
