Common questions about alarm install
How long does an alarm install take?
Most homes (3-bed, single-storey) take 4—6 hours. Two-storey or commercial multi-zone jobs are usually a full day. We almost always finish in one visit so you’re armed-up by the time we leave.
Can you install over an existing alarm system?
Often yes — we can re-use existing PIRs, contacts, and cabling if they’re in good shape. We test the existing wiring on the site visit and only replace what’s actually faulty. That keeps the price honest.
Do I have to sign up to monthly monitoring?
No. You can run the system stand-alone (smartphone alerts only) or add 24/7 monitoring later. Monitoring is from $35/month and includes police-response dispatch.
Will you make a mess in my walls?
Almost never. We run cables through ceiling cavities and existing wall cavities wherever possible. If a small drill hole is needed, we patch and fill it before we leave. We’ve done 80+ alarm installs and walked away with the homeowner happy on every one.
What if the alarm goes off accidentally?
We set up a 30-second entry delay so you can disarm before the siren triggers. False alarms in the first month are usually pet-related or door/window contact misalignment — we come back and adjust under the warranty, no charge.
How does the smartphone app work?
The app (iOS + Android) lets you arm, disarm, view sensor status, and get push notifications when a zone trips. You can also create user codes for cleaners, family, or staff with their own audit trail. We walk you through it on install day.
What’s the difference between Hikvision and Dahua?
For alarms, both are excellent. Hikvision has slightly better app polish, Dahua has marginally better RF range. We default to Hikvision unless you’ve already got Dahua hardware on-site (e.g. existing CCTV) — then we match for one app.
Do you also install CCTV and access control?
