Blown fibre installation across New Zealand: ducts checked, fibre blown, spliced and certified by one team.
We install blown fibre for property developers, schools and campuses, and civil and electrical contractors. We check and pressure-test your ducts, blow the fibre in with compressed air, then splice, test and hand over a written test report, so you deal with one crew from duct to light.
- Property developers
- Schools and campuses
- Civil and electrical contractors
- Network builders
- Duct route inspected and connected
- Air pressure test before blowing
- Fibre blown into microduct or tube
- Splicing, OTDR testing and a PDF report
What is blown fibre?
Blown fibre is a way of installing fibre optic cable by pushing it through small plastic ducts (microducts) with compressed air, instead of pulling it with a rope. The air carries the cable along the duct with very little strain, so long runs go in quickly and the fibre is not stretched or kinked. Because the ducts stay in place, more fibre can be blown in later without digging the site up again.
Inside buildings, or underground across a site
Air-blown fibre
Small fibre bundles blown through slim tubes between floors, buildings and comms rooms. A good fit for schools, campuses, offices and apartment blocks where you want fibre to every riser or classroom block, with spare tubes for later.
Microduct and cable blowing
Fibre cable blown through microducts laid in trenches across subdivisions, business parks and network routes. Pairs with our private fibre networks for developments, from the trench to every lot.
5 steps from duct to light
Plan the route. We review your duct layout or drawings, the fibre count you need and the access on site, then send a written quote.
Inspect and connect the ducts. We check the installed ducts and microducts for damage, crushing or loose joints, and connect the routes, before any fibre goes in.
Pressure test. Each route is tested with air pressure to prove it is sealed and connected end to end, so the blow does not stop halfway.
Blow the fibre. The cable or fibre bundle is blown in with compressed air, with the blowing speed and pressure watched for the whole run.
Splice, test and certify. We splice and terminate the fibre, OTDR-test every link and hand over a written PDF test report, with a 12-month workmanship warranty.
Built for the people who put ducts in the ground
Subdivisions and apartments
Fibre blown to every lot or unit, then spliced and tested so the network is ready for your provider. See private fibre networks.
Links between buildings
Fibre between blocks, halls and comms rooms, planned around term dates so classes are not disrupted.
Subcontract blowing crew
Civil and electrical contractors who lay the duct can hand the blowing, splicing and testing to us. See working with partners.
Blowing, splicing and testing without the hand-offs
- We already splice and test fibre. Fusion splicing, terminations and OTDR certification are part of our fibre optic installation work, so the job does not pass between three contractors.
- Written quote first. You get a written quote after we review the route, before any work starts.
- Insured and accountable. $10M public liability and a 12-month workmanship warranty on our work.
- Throughout New Zealand. We take on blown fibre projects nationwide, and plan crew and travel for each project outside Auckland.

Blown fibre questions
Why blow fibre instead of pulling it?
Blowing puts far less strain on the cable, so long runs go in faster and the fibre is not stretched or damaged. The ducts stay in place, so more fibre can be added later without digging.
Can you add fibre to ducts that are already in the ground?
Often, yes, if the ducts are intact and have room. We inspect and pressure-test them first and tell you what can be used before quoting.
Do you splice and test the fibre too?
Yes. We splice and terminate the fibre, OTDR-test every link and hand over a written PDF test report, so one team covers the job from duct to light.
Do you work outside Auckland?
Yes. We take on blown fibre projects throughout New Zealand and plan crew and travel for each project.
How much does blown fibre installation cost?
It depends on the route length, the number of ducts and fibres, access on site and the splicing and testing needed. We send a written quote after reviewing your route.
