2. What we collect
When you fill in a form on this website:
- Quote request: your name, phone number, email address, suburb, when you need the work done, and what you have told us about the job
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, and your message
- Guide download: your first name and email address
When you become a customer, we also collect:
- The address where we are doing the work
- Details of your property relevant to the installation
- Photographs of the work we have carried out, before and after
- Records of what we installed, where, and when
- Payment and invoicing records
When you visit this website: we use Google Analytics, which collects information about how people use the site — pages viewed, time spent, approximate location (usually city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected using cookies.
What we do not collect: we do not ask for and do not want your bank login details, passwords or identity documents.
3. Why we collect it
- To prepare and send you a quote
- To contact you about work you have asked about
- To carry out the work and support it afterwards, including under our 12-month workmanship warranty
- To invoice you and keep the financial records we are legally required to keep
- To send you a guide or resource you have asked for
- To understand how people use this website so we can improve it
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Who else can see it
We use third-party service providers to run our business — including email, website hosting, website analytics and accounting software. These providers may store or process your information on our behalf. Some store data on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy safeguards apply, as required by Information Privacy Principle 12.
Within our business, access is limited to the people who need it to do their job — quoting, scheduling, carrying out the work, and invoicing.
We do not share your information with anyone else unless you ask us to, or we are legally required to.
5. Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies. Some are necessary for the site to work; others are set by Google Analytics to measure how the site is used.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block them the site will still work, but some things may not function as expected.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become jobs: generally no longer than 2 years
- Customer and job records, including invoices: 7 years, to meet Inland Revenue record-keeping requirements
- Guide subscribers: until you unsubscribe
7. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can:
- Ask what we hold about you. We will tell you, free of charge, within 20 working days.
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
- Ask us to delete it, unless we are legally required to keep it (for example, invoices we must retain for tax purposes).
- Unsubscribe from any marketing email, using the link in the email or by contacting us.
- Complain to the Privacy Commissioner if you are not happy with how we have handled your information — privacy.org.nz, 0800 803 909.
8. CCTV, alarm and access control systems we install
When we install a CCTV, alarm or access control system, we usually keep the login details for that system after the job is finished, and we can log in remotely to support it. That access also allows us to view recorded footage.
We do this so we can support your system — diagnose a fault without a call-out, update firmware, add or remove users, and get you running again quickly. Your agreement to this is recorded in the paperwork you sign with us.
What this means in practice:
- We do not routinely keep copies of your footage. We can view recorded footage through your system when supporting it. If we ever need to export a clip — for example to support a warranty claim with the manufacturer — we will tell you, and we delete it once the issue is resolved.
- We only log in when there is a reason to — a support request from you, a fault we are fixing, or maintenance you have asked for.
- We do not share your footage or system access with anyone else, unless you ask us to or we are legally required to (for example, a Police request or a court order).
- We do not use your footage for marketing, training or any other purpose.
You can withdraw this access at any time. Contact us and we will remove our credentials from your system and confirm in writing once it is done. This will not affect your 12-month workmanship warranty, though it does mean future support will need a site visit rather than a remote fix.
If your system records other people — visitors, neighbouring property, the footpath — you are responsible for that footage under the Privacy Act, not us. We are happy to talk through camera positioning at install to help you stay on the right side of it. There is more detail in our guide to CCTV privacy law in New Zealand.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted here.
