When Cat6 can't reach, glass can
Fibre optic installation runs glass cable between buildings or floors to carry data at speeds copper can't touch — up to 100 Gbps over kilometres with no signal loss. Cat6 tops out at 90m; single-mode fibre reaches 40 km.
You need it for multi-building campuses, large open-plan offices, CCTV backhaul over distance, or any 10 GbE backbone application. Every install is fusion-spliced in tray, terminated with LC or SC connectors, and OTDR-certified with a written report your IT team or auditor can file.
- Published pricing — per-metre, per-splice and per-test rates on this page.
- Fusion splicing — permanent, typically 0.05 dB loss per splice.
- Bi-directional OTDR — insertion loss documented per splice and termination.
- Lifetime cable warranty — plus same-day call-out for fault repair.
Single-mode, multi-mode — or no cable at all?
The three ways to link buildings and floors at 10 GbE+. We'll recommend the right one at your free inspection — and we install all three.
Single-mode (OS2)
The future-proof choice for runs over 300m, 10 GbE backbones and inter-building links. One glass path, laser-driven, effectively unlimited headroom — what most Auckland commercial installs choose.
- Reach
- Up to 40 km
- Speed
- 10–100 Gbps
- Transceivers
- $$ — dearer
Multi-mode (OM4)
Cheaper transceivers make multi-mode the sharp choice for short hops — server room to comms room, floor to floor in a smaller building — where the run stays under 300m.
- Reach
- Up to 300 m
- Speed
- 10 Gbps
- Transceivers
- $ — cheapest
Wireless microwave link
When the buildings are separated by a road, a carpark you can't dig up, or someone else's land — a point-to-point radio link delivers fibre-class speed with no civil works.
- Reach
- Line of sight
- Speed
- Up to 10 Gbps
- Civil works
- None

Fibre for every job glass does better
Inter-building links, risers, long-haul CCTV and fault repair — pulled, spliced, certified and documented by one crew.
Inter-building & campus links
Building A to Building B across the carpark — aerial or underground duct, fusion-spliced both ends. The staple job for industrial estates, school campuses and any site where two buildings need to behave like one network.
- Aerial or underground duct
- Fusion-spliced both ends
- Outdoor-rated cable
- 10 GbE+ between buildings
Risers & multi-tenant buildings
10 GbE from the IT room to every floor, or shared riser fibre with per-tenant splices and break-out trays. We deliver labelled patch panels per tenant — and we'll match your existing patch frame spec, connector colour and labelling.
- Floor-to-floor 10 GbE backbone
- Per-tenant splices + break-outs
- Labelled patch panels per tenant
- Works with existing patch frames
CCTV backhaul over distance
The carpark cameras need to reach the NVR in the main building 400m away — Cat6 can't go that far, fibre can. We run the glass, put a media converter or PoE switch at the far end, and the cameras behave like they're next door.
- Any distance Cat6 can't do
- Media converter / PoE at far end
- Outdoor + underground rated
- Perimeter + gate cameras too
Fibre fault repair — same-day call-out
An excavator found your fibre, or the link just went dark. We OTDR the run to locate the break to the metre, splice-repair in tray, and re-certify — same-day call-out across Auckland, diagnostics from $280.
- Same-day call-out
- OTDR locates break to the metre
- Fusion splice repair
- Re-certified after repair

"Needed fibre between our warehouse and office across the yard. Route walked, quoted in a day, installed in one — and the OTDR report came as a PDF our IT guys could actually file. Link's been flawless."
"Booked a full Cat6 fit-out for our new office. Turned up when they said, cabling is immaculate behind the rack, and every port was labelled and tested. The Fluke report made our IT company's job easy."
"Our fitout had data, cameras, door access and boardroom AV across two floors. One quote, one crew, one handover folder — and when the fire certifier asked for cable routes, it was all documented."
