Why cable the system properly
Most CCTV failures aren't camera faults — they're cabling faults. A camera fed by a poorly terminated cable will drop offline in the rain, lose night footage, or fail the moment you most need it. As a structured cabling company first, we run and Fluke-test every cable to standard before a single camera goes up. That's the difference between a system that works for years and one that's offline when the break-in happens.
Who can see your footage?
It’s a fair question, and most installers don’t answer it. Here’s ours.
We keep the login to your system after the job is done. That’s deliberate — it’s how we fix a fault without charging you a call-out, update firmware when a security patch comes out, and add or remove users when your staff change. You agree to it in the paperwork you sign, and you can take it away at any time.
- We can view your recorded footage when we’re supporting your system. We don’t pretend otherwise — diagnosing a camera fault sometimes means looking at what it recorded.
- We don’t keep copies of your footage. It stays on your recorder, on your premises. If we ever need to export a clip — to support a warranty claim with the manufacturer, say — we’ll tell you first, and we delete it once the issue is resolved.
- We only log in when there’s a reason to — you’ve reported a problem, we’re fixing a fault, or you’ve asked for maintenance. Not to browse.
- We never share your footage or your system access with anyone, unless you ask us to or we’re legally required to, such as a Police request or a court order.
- We never use your footage for marketing, for training, or for anything else.
Want us to hand the keys back? Say the word and we’ll remove our access from your system and confirm in writing once it’s done. It won’t affect your 12-month workmanship warranty. The only difference is that future support will need a site visit rather than a remote fix.
One thing that’s on you, not us. If your cameras record other people — visitors, the footpath, a neighbour’s property — that footage is your responsibility under the Privacy Act, not ours.
