Comms room & server room cleaning, Auckland

Dust is cooking your network gear. We clean it out without switching anything off.

Comms rooms and server cupboards pull in dust through every fan, and nobody cleans them because the office cleaner won't touch the rack and the IT company doesn't carry a vacuum. Dust blocks filters and fans, the gear runs hotter, and switches, UPS units and NAS boxes fail early. We clean the room, the racks and the equipment around live systems, then give you a short report with photos.

Why a cabler should do it, not a cleaner

We know what's live

We install racks, patch panels, switches and UPS units for a living. We know which cable carries the internet, which plug feeds the server, and what not to nudge.

Built for working rooms

Nothing is powered down unless you agree to it first. We work rack by rack and keep the doors and floor clear so the room stays usable.

You get a record

Before and after photos, plus anything we spot on the way: a fan that has stopped, a UPS battery warning, a blocked vent or a cable at risk.

What's included

Every room is different, so the quote lists exactly what we'll do. A standard clean covers:

Racks and cabinets

Dust removed from cabinet tops, doors, side panels, shelves and the outside of mounted equipment, using anti-static brushes and a filtered vacuum.

Fans, filters and vents

Cabinet fan trays, door filters and the room's air vents and grilles, so cooling air can actually get through.

Floor, skirting and under the rack

The floor, the space under and behind the racks, and under raised floor tiles where you have them.

Cable tidy (optional)

Loose patch leads re-dressed and labelled while we're there, or a full cable tidy quoted alongside.

Clear-out

Old boxes, packaging and dead equipment taken away with your OK.

Visual health check

A walk-round of fans, UPS lights, cable strain and room temperature, written up in the report with photos.

How a job runs

  1. Free survey

We look at the room, the racks and how busy it is, and ask what can and can't be touched.
  2. Fixed quote

A written price within 24 business hours, including the time we'll need and whether after-hours makes sense.
  3. Clean

Rack by rack, around live equipment. Anything that needs a shutdown is booked separately with you.
  4. Report

Before and after photos and a short list of anything worth fixing, emailed the same day.

How often should a comms room be cleaned?

For most offices, once or twice a year is enough. Clean it more often if the room is in a warehouse or workshop, near a busy street, shares space with a printer or stationery store, or the building has had renovation or construction work nearby. A room that's had building work is worth cleaning straight after the builders leave, before the dust works its way into the fans.

What it costs

Every room gets a fixed written quote after a free survey, so you know the price before we start. Regular cleans can be added to a Network Care plan.

Questions we get asked

Do you need to turn the servers off?
No. We clean the room, the cabinets and the outside of live equipment without powering anything down. If a device needs cleaning inside, that needs a planned shutdown, and we only do it with your OK at a time you choose.
How often should a server room be cleaned?
Once or twice a year suits most offices. Dusty sites such as warehouses, workshops or rooms near building work need it more often, and any room should be cleaned once the builders have finished nearby.
Can you clean after hours?
Yes. Most cleans happen during the day around live systems, but we can work after hours or at weekends at our after-hours rate if you'd rather nobody is in the office.
What do you clean with?
Anti-static brushes and cloths and a filtered vacuum. We don't use liquids or compressed air inside a live rack, because both push dust and moisture into the gear.
Can comms room cleaning be part of a maintenance plan?
Yes. You can book a one-off clean, or add a regular clean to a Network Care plan so it happens on a schedule without you having to remember.
Do you clean data centres?
We clean comms rooms, server rooms and network cabinets for offices, schools, medical practices, retail and warehouses. Larger data halls are quoted after a site visit.

When was your comms room last cleaned?

If you can't remember, it's due. Book a free 30-minute survey and get a fixed price within 24 business hours.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our cabling services, pricing and process. Can't find what you're after? Call us on 0800 222 546.

How much does network cabling cost?

Pricing depends on the number of data points, cable type (Cat6 / Cat6a / fibre) and building complexity. We provide free site surveys and upfront fixed-price quotes, no hidden costs. A single Cat6 outlet starts from $480, and each extra outlet from $195 +GST. Call 0800 222 546 to book yours.

Do you charge for site surveys and quotes?

No, site surveys and quotes are free. Book online or call 0800 222 546 and one of our team will come to you, assess the job, and give you a clear fixed price before any work begins.

How long does a typical install take?

A standard residential or small-office install is usually completed in a single day. Larger commercial or enterprise projects are planned with a clear timeline given before work begins, so you always know what to expect.

Are your technicians certified and licensed?

Yes. All installs are completed to TIA/EIA and AS/NZS 3080 standards, and any associated electrical work is carried out by licensed electricians. We are fully insured with $10M public liability cover.

What areas of Auckland do you service?

We service all of Auckland: Central, North Shore, West, East and South Auckland, plus the North including Orewa, Silverdale, Warkworth, Snells Beach and Mangawhai.

Do you provide a warranty on your work?

Yes. Every cabling install is tested, documented and backed by our 12-month workmanship warranty. If anything isn't right after your install, we'll come back and fix it.

Cat6 vs Cat6a, which cable should I choose?

For most homes and small offices, Cat6 is more than enough, it handles gigabit speeds easily and is more affordable. Cat6a suits businesses running heavy data, future-proofing for 10-gigabit networks, or longer cable runs. We'll recommend the right cable during your free site survey.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Auckland?

CCTV pricing depends on the number of cameras, indoor vs outdoor placement, recording method (NVR vs cloud) and cabling required. Most residential systems are a one-day install; commercial sites are quoted after a survey. Book a free site survey on 0800 222 546.

Can you install fibre optic cabling for my business?

Yes, we install indoor and outdoor fibre including OS2 single-mode and OM3/OM4 multi-mode for backbone runs, server rooms and inter-building links. All terminations are tested and certified to AS/NZS standards.

Do you provide after-hours or emergency callouts?

Yes. Real people answer Mon–Sun, and we offer emergency callouts for downed networks, broken cabling, camera failures and business-critical outages. Call 0800 222 546 anytime.

Can you add data points to an existing home or office?

Absolutely, adding data points to existing buildings is one of our most common jobs. We minimise wall damage, label every cable and tidy patch panels so future changes are easy. Most retrofits are completed in a single visit.
