MATV & communal TV, Auckland

One aerial, one dish, and a clean TV signal in every apartment.

A shared TV system (MATV) feeds every apartment from one aerial and one satellite dish on the roof. No dishes on balconies, no residents running their own cables up the outside of the building, and every unit gets Freeview and the option of Sky. We design, install and fix communal TV systems for apartment buildings, townhouse blocks and mixed-use developments across Auckland.

Why a shared system beats one dish per apartment

A tidy building

One aerial and one dish on the roof instead of a dish on every balcony. Most body corporate rules prefer it, and the building looks better for it.

Every unit tested

Each apartment's TV outlet is tested for signal at handover, and you get the readings, so there's no arguing later about whose fault a bad picture is.

One contractor for the low-voltage work

We also do the building's data cabling, intercom, access control and CCTV, so TV is one less trade to manage.

What we do

New builds and existing buildings. The quote lists exactly what's included.

Survey and design

We count the outlets, check reception at the roof, and design the system around the size and layout of the building.

Aerial and dish

The roof-mounted UHF aerial for Freeview and the satellite dish, aligned and secured.

Headend equipment

Amplifiers and multiswitches that split the signal, so every apartment can have its own Freeview and its own Sky box.

Distribution cabling

The riser and cable runs to every floor and apartment, labelled and documented.

Outlets in each apartment

A TV outlet where residents need it, tested for signal before handover.

Faults and upgrades

Existing systems where some units have no picture, a failed amplifier, or a building that wants Sky added.

How a job runs

  1. Free survey

We look at the roof, the riser and the apartments, and check how the current system is wired, if there is one.
  2. Design and fixed quote

A written price within 24 business hours of the survey, with the equipment list and the outlet count.
  3. Install

Planned around the build programme, or around residents in an occupied building, with access arranged through the body corporate.
  4. Test and handover

Every outlet tested, with a signal reading per apartment and a riser diagram for your records.

For developers and body corporates

Developers: put the TV system in the same low-voltage package as the data cabling, fibre, intercom and access control, and deal with one subcontractor. Body corporates: if residents are complaining about the picture or asking for Sky, we find the fault, fix it, and tell you what the building needs next, in writing.

What it costs

Every communal TV system is designed for its building, so it gets a fixed written quote after a free survey. For a single home or one extra outlet, see our TV aerial and coax page.

Questions we get asked

What is an MATV system?
MATV stands for master antenna television. One aerial (and usually one satellite dish) on the roof feeds TV signal to every apartment through amplifiers, multiswitches and cabling, so residents don't need their own aerial or dish.
Can every apartment have its own Sky subscription?
Yes. A satellite multiswitch gives each apartment its own feed from the shared dish, so each resident can sign up to Sky on their own account, or not at all.
Some apartments have no picture. Can you fix an existing system?
Yes. We trace the fault through the headend, the riser and the outlets. Common causes are a failed amplifier, a damaged or water-affected cable, or connections that weren't done properly. You get a written report and a fixed price for the repair.
Do residents get Freeview?
Yes. The aerial carries Freeview to every outlet, and the system can also carry Freeview by satellite where aerial reception is poor.
Who usually arranges the work?
For new builds, the developer or main contractor. For existing buildings, the body corporate or building manager. We work with whoever holds the building's access and sign-off.
Do you give us test results?
Yes. Every outlet is tested at handover, and you get the signal reading for each apartment and a diagram of the system for future maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our cabling services, pricing and process. Can't find what you're after? Call us on 0800 222 546.

How much does network cabling cost?

Pricing depends on the number of data points, cable type (Cat6 / Cat6a / fibre) and building complexity. We provide free site surveys and upfront fixed-price quotes, no hidden costs. A single Cat6 outlet starts from $480, and each extra outlet from $195 + GST. Call 0800 222 546 to book yours.

Do you charge for site surveys and quotes?

No, site surveys and quotes are free. Book online or call 0800 222 546 and one of our team will come to you, assess the job, and give you a clear fixed price before any work begins.

How long does a typical install take?

A standard residential or small-office install is usually completed in a single day. Larger commercial or enterprise projects are planned with a clear timeline given before work begins, so you always know what to expect.

Are your technicians certified and licensed?

Yes. All installs are completed to TIA/EIA and AS/NZS 3080 standards, and any associated electrical work is carried out by licensed electricians. We are fully insured with $10M public liability cover.

What areas of Auckland do you service?

We service all of Auckland: Central, North Shore, West, East and South Auckland, plus the North including Orewa, Silverdale, Warkworth, Snells Beach and Mangawhai.

Do you provide a warranty on your work?

Yes. Every cabling install is tested, documented and backed by our 12-month workmanship warranty. If anything isn't right after your install, we'll come back and fix it.

Cat6 vs Cat6a, which cable should I choose?

For most homes and small offices, Cat6 is more than enough, it handles gigabit speeds easily and is more affordable. Cat6a suits businesses running heavy data, future-proofing for 10-gigabit networks, or longer cable runs. We'll recommend the right cable during your free site survey.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Auckland?

CCTV pricing depends on the number of cameras, indoor vs outdoor placement, recording method (NVR vs cloud) and cabling required. Most residential systems are a one-day install; commercial sites are quoted after a survey. Book a free site survey on 0800 222 546.

Can you install fibre optic cabling for my business?

Yes, we install indoor and outdoor fibre including OS2 single-mode and OM3/OM4 multi-mode for backbone runs, server rooms and inter-building links. All terminations are tested and certified to AS/NZS standards.

Do you provide after-hours or emergency callouts?

Yes. Real people answer Mon–Sun, and we offer emergency callouts for downed networks, broken cabling, camera failures and business-critical outages. Call 0800 222 546 anytime.

Can you add data points to an existing home or office?

Absolutely, adding data points to existing buildings is one of our most common jobs. We minimise wall damage, label every cable and tidy patch panels so future changes are easy. Most retrofits are completed in a single visit.
