Network Rescue, Auckland

Inherited a messy, half-finished or unreliable network? We'll sort it out properly.

It often starts after an office move, a cheap install or a contractor who stopped answering the phone. Cables nobody can trace, Wi-Fi that drops out, cameras that go offline, and a cabinet nobody wants to touch. We find out what's really there, fix what's wrong, test it, and leave you the paperwork so the next problem is easy to solve.

Signs your network needs rescuing

Nobody knows what goes where

No labels, no port map, and every fault means an hour of tracing cables before anyone can start fixing it.

Things keep dropping out

Wi-Fi that dies in the same spots, computers that lose the network, or cameras that go offline and come back on their own.

A job left half-done

The last contractor ran the cables but never finished the terminations, the testing or the labelling, and has stopped returning calls.

Cabling that was never tested

Points that "mostly work", slow links, or no test results at all, so nobody can say whether the cabling is up to standard.

A cabinet nobody wants to touch

A wall of tangled patch leads, power and data mixed together, and one wrong unplug takes the office offline.

Shortcuts you've found since

Cables run loose across ceilings, data run alongside power, joins hidden in walls, or outdoor cable used where it shouldn't be.

What we do

Every rescue is different, so the written quote lists exactly what's in scope. A typical job covers:

Audit and fault-finding

We trace and test what's there, find the faults and write down what we found, before recommending anything.

Repairs and re-terminations

Bad ends re-terminated, damaged runs repaired or replaced. See data cable repair.

Cabinet and cable tidy

Re-patched with right-length leads, power separated from data, dead cables removed once confirmed unused. See cable tidy.

Testing

Repaired and new cabling tested on a Fluke tester, so you know each link works, not just that it lights up.

Wi-Fi and network fixes

We check routers, switches and Wi-Fi access points, then fix settings, placement or wiring that cause the drop-outs.

Documentation

Labels at both ends, a port map and before and after photos, so the next person doesn't have to start from scratch.

How a rescue runs

  1. Free survey

We look at the cabinet, the cabling and the problem areas, and agree what has to stay running during the work.
  2. Findings and fixed quote

What we found and what we recommend, with a written price within 24 business hours.
  3. Fix

We work in stages so the office stays up. Work that can't drop anything is done after hours.
  4. Handover

Tested links, labels, a port map and before and after photos, emailed to you.

Fix it, or start again?

Sometimes a few bad terminations are the whole problem and the fix is quick. Sometimes recabling costs less than chasing faults in cable that was never right. We tell you which one, and why, before you spend money, and we don't recommend new kit you don't need.

Keep it that way

Once your network is sorted, a maintenance plan adds scheduled visits, firmware updates and a written report each time, so it doesn't drift back.

Questions we get asked

Will you fix work another company did?
Yes, that's what Network Rescue is for. We don't need the original installer's paperwork. We trace and test what's there and work from that.
Will you tell us if it's better to replace than repair?
Yes. If recabling a section costs less than chasing faults in it, we say so and show you why. If a repair is enough, we won't sell you more.
Do you test the cabling?
Yes. Cabling we repair or install is tested on a Fluke tester, and the results are part of your handover.
What do we get at the end?
Tested connections, labels at both ends, a port map showing what connects to what, and before and after photos, emailed to you.
Will the office have to stop work?
Usually not. We work in stages so only one device drops at a time. Anything that can't drop at all is done after hours, at after-hours rates.
How much does it cost?
The survey is free and you get a fixed written price before any work starts. Small fault-finding jobs can be done hourly: $75 + GST for the first hour, then $95 + GST per hour.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our cabling services, pricing and process. Can't find what you're after? Call us on 0800 222 546.

How much does network cabling cost?

Pricing depends on the number of data points, cable type (Cat6 / Cat6a / fibre) and building complexity. We provide free site surveys and upfront fixed-price quotes, no hidden costs. A single Cat6 outlet starts from $480, and each extra outlet from $195 + GST. Call 0800 222 546 to book yours.

Do you charge for site surveys and quotes?

No, site surveys and quotes are free. Book online or call 0800 222 546 and one of our team will come to you, assess the job, and give you a clear fixed price before any work begins.

How long does a typical install take?

A standard residential or small-office install is usually completed in a single day. Larger commercial or enterprise projects are planned with a clear timeline given before work begins, so you always know what to expect.

Are your technicians certified and licensed?

Yes. All installs are completed to TIA/EIA and AS/NZS 3080 standards, and any associated electrical work is carried out by licensed electricians. We are fully insured with $10M public liability cover.

What areas of Auckland do you service?

We service all of Auckland: Central, North Shore, West, East and South Auckland, plus the North including Orewa, Silverdale, Warkworth, Snells Beach and Mangawhai.

Do you provide a warranty on your work?

Yes. Every cabling install is tested, documented and backed by our 12-month workmanship warranty. If anything isn't right after your install, we'll come back and fix it.

Cat6 vs Cat6a, which cable should I choose?

For most homes and small offices, Cat6 is more than enough, it handles gigabit speeds easily and is more affordable. Cat6a suits businesses running heavy data, future-proofing for 10-gigabit networks, or longer cable runs. We'll recommend the right cable during your free site survey.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Auckland?

CCTV pricing depends on the number of cameras, indoor vs outdoor placement, recording method (NVR vs cloud) and cabling required. Most residential systems are a one-day install; commercial sites are quoted after a survey. Book a free site survey on 0800 222 546.

Can you install fibre optic cabling for my business?

Yes, we install indoor and outdoor fibre including OS2 single-mode and OM3/OM4 multi-mode for backbone runs, server rooms and inter-building links. All terminations are tested and certified to AS/NZS standards.

Do you provide after-hours or emergency callouts?

Yes. Real people answer Mon–Sun, and we offer emergency callouts for downed networks, broken cabling, camera failures and business-critical outages. Call 0800 222 546 anytime.

Can you add data points to an existing home or office?

Absolutely, adding data points to existing buildings is one of our most common jobs. We minimise wall damage, label every cable and tidy patch panels so future changes are easy. Most retrofits are completed in a single visit.
